About YMP SUDBURY

Young Mining Professionals Sudbury is a group of like-minded mining industry professionals from the nickel city. Sudbury has a strong mining sector with several mining and mining supply companies, along with numerous active mines.    

YMP Sudbury will host a variety of networking events to help its members build their industry connections while also helping them to gain the skills, support and knowledge needed to successfully advance their careers and facilitate new business opportunities.  

 

 

Directors

 
    Brandon Seguin   Brandon began working in the mining industry in 2012 and is currently a Project Manager for SCR Mining and Tunnelling L.P., a company specializing in a variety of areas including mine development, surface and underground construction, electrical installations, mechanical installation, shaft sinking and more. As a Project Manager, Brandon ensures that projects are accomplished safely, on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the client. Brandon holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Civil) Degree from the University of Toronto.

Brandon Seguin

Brandon began working in the mining industry in 2012 and is currently a Project Manager for SCR Mining and Tunnelling L.P., a company specializing in a variety of areas including mine development, surface and underground construction, electrical installations, mechanical installation, shaft sinking and more. As a Project Manager, Brandon ensures that projects are accomplished safely, on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the client. Brandon holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Civil) Degree from the University of Toronto.

    Jeff Portelance   Jeff is currently working as the Capital Sales Manager at Marcotte Mining Machinery Services Inc., where he oversees the marketing and sales departments, while cultivating and maintaining new and existing client relationships, as well as number of domestic and international partnerships. He has over 20 years of business development experience and sits on the board of Modern Mining Technology Sudbury, a not-for-profit that aims to promote the many rewarding careers available in today's mining industry to the next generation. Jeff holds an Honors Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Sports Administration from Laurentian University.

She is responsible for assisting Site Superintendents and Project Managers with developing and implementing efficient processes to ensure production goals are met. Brianna is a member of the Young Professionals Association of Sudbury, which helps young people grow their industry connections and professional skills through a variety of networking events, professional development sessions and community events. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Laurentian University.

Tova is a member of the Young Professionals Association of Sudbury, an organization that helps young professionals build their network and industry related skills by hosting events and educational sessions. She attended Cambrian College, where she graduated with honors from the Public Relations program.

Alicia Woods is the founder and CEO of Covergalls Workwear and General Manager of Marcotte Mining.  Motivated to improve the underground mining experience for women, Alicia designed the first ever covergalls for women, and then successfully pitched her business on CBC’s Dragon’s Den in 2014. Alicia is focused on motivating and educating audience’s and works to inspire, encourage and equip the women breaking barriers in non-traditional roles. Alicia is a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum, the recipient of the inaugural Young Mining Professional Female (YMP) Eira Thomas Award, 2016 YWCA Women of Distinction Award, 40 Under 40 Award Recipient (2015),  Innovation Award 2015 Recipient and Influential Women Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2015.
